Stop Or You’ll Catch A Cold…

A student of Paul Caponigro’s and a dear friend of mine once gave me a book by Annie Dillard, The Writing Life. She told me to substitute the words photographer and photography for writer and writing, and all the insights in the book would be applicable to my nascent inquiries into photography and art. Boy, was she right. I have found since then that many insights by any practitioner in one genre of art can be applicable to artists in general. Music, painting, writing, photography are all practiced with the same soul stuff.

So it was with great pleasure that I read this tip from the writer Kurt Vonnegut.

Write to please just one person. If you open a window and make love to the world, so to speak, your story will get pneumonia.

Enjoy your weekend everybody!
