Ivan Vartanian is the author of Japanese Photobooks of the 1960s and 1970s, founder of Goliga Books and now Program Director for the inaugural Shashin: Photography from Japan festival taking place in New York this April. For Japanese photography fans such as myself this will be an unprecedented event and one I hope continues.

NYC galleries will also be showcasing work from their roster of Japanese artists. There will also be many associated events continuing through the beginning of May as well as a 2 day symposium at The New York Public Library. I hope to see you there.

LUXE LXIV is the framework for the photography of Dave Ortiz. Dave has been making and working with images for over 15 years. He is presently the Head of Digital Imaging at Columbia University in the City of New York. He is available for digital imaging consultation. Previously he was the head photographer at The New York Public Library and he was a photo editor at Natural History magazine from 1992 - 2000. He currently lives in Maplewood, NJ.
