I was inspired by the Magnum, “Street Photography”, online tutorial to go out and shoot and talk to people. As I walked past The Church of St. John the Divine I saw two clergy standing outside and decided to go talk to them. It is Ash Wednesday.  The placing of ash upon the forehead now takes place outside. Apparently in recognition that churches maybe traumatic places for some people. I chatted, I asked participants if I could photograph them and then took a few candid images. As usual out of hundreds only six were worthy of publication.
